September 2010 - Facet granted new US Patent for starter motor having a permanently engaged gear
Facet has been granted a new U.S. Patent No. US 7.810.403, Starter Motor Having a Permanently Engaged Gear. This technology significantly reduces the size, weight, and cost of starter motors. The system also enables positive engagement starting systems to be competitively applied to small engines. See all Facet Patents

September 2010 - Facet granted new US Patent for strut based overrunning pulleys
Facet has been granted a new U.S. Patent No. US 7.770.706, Strut Based Overrunning Pulleys. This technology can carry high torque loads for large displacement diesel engines. The systems offer greater durability, lower heat generation, and potentially tuneable vibration dampening. See all Facet Patents

March 2010 - Facet to present paper at SAE 2010 World Congress.
Facet will be presenting a technical paper on Controlled Alternator Decoupling for Reduced Noise and Vibration at the SAE 2010 World Congress in Detroit. http://www.sae.org/congress/. Facet will also be exhibiting its pulley technology at the SAE Exhibition, Booth 914.

March 2010 - Facet granted new US Patent for torque transfer technology
Facet has been granted a new U.S. Patent No. US 7661329, Pawl Drive for Coupling Torque Between Two Rotatable Elements. This technology permits permanent, yet clutched, torque transfer. The pawls include built-in shock absorption for engagement impacts. See all Facet Patents

March 2010 - Facet to present seminar on active alternator pulleys at ERA 2010
Facet will present a seminar at the ERA 2010 North American Trade Show May 21 – 23 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington Kentucky. Facet will explain why active pulleys were introduced, then describe the evolution in designs from clutch then decoupler pulleys. We will briefly explain the theory behind the rotor decoupling via a spring-mass model. We will discuss the dynamics during torque transfer, as well as during overrun, including why they are important.
