Facet

About Us

FACET's origins trace back to Vincent Bendix, the originator of the Bendix Starter Drive patented in 1910. The first automobile to use the Bendix starter drive was the 1914 Chevrolet "Baby Grand". The Bendix starter became a standard in all cars produced in the United States. In 1923, Vincent Bendix bought the patent rights to Perrot Brakes & Controls and started the Bendix Brake Company. In 1929, Vincent Bendix also started the Bendix Aviation Corporation and later invented the pressure carburetor for aircraft engines. By 1938, Bendix's pressure carburetor was installed on almost every American aircraft.

In 1974 Bendix divisions divested, forming FACET. FACET stands for the first letter in the acronym: Filters, Automotive Components, Environmental Technology.

In 1987 FACET acquired Purolator Products Inc. and became known as Purolator-FACET. Purolator-FACET held, conceived, and registered dozens of U.S. & international drive patents and technologies. In the late 1990's the fuel pump and starter drive businesses were acquired by Motor Components LLC. FACET drives are the genuine OE standard to Delco, Visteon/Ford, Mitsuba, Prestolite, Harley, and many others, manufacturing in excess of 220 million drives to date.

True to its heritage, FACET innovation once again redefines "the best available" in starter drive and active alternator pulley technology. We invite you to browse our site and learn about the next generation of PosiStrut™ drives and Reactiv™ alternator pulleys.
